Manual shifting of automatic transmission in Mitsubishi Lancer

The Mitsubishi Lancer does not have a manual gear shift mode in the traditional sense. However, models with an automatic transmission type INVECS-III or INVECS-II have a manual gear shift mode.

For manual gear shift mode:

1. Move the gear lever to position “D”.
2. Pull the gear shift lever back and pull it to the left to the “M” position.
3. To downshift, pull the lever back (away from you).
4. To upshift, push the lever forward (towards you).

Note:

* In manual gear shift mode, the automatic transmission does not automatically shift to a higher gear, even if the engine reaches high speeds. This may damage the engine.
* If the engine speed becomes too high, the automatic transmission will automatically shift to the next higher gear.
* Shifting backwards (to lower gears) may damage the automatic transmission at high speeds.
* It is not recommended to use manual shift mode under normal driving conditions.
