Manual gear shift

1. Move the gear shift lever to the “P” (park) or “N” (neutral) position.
2. Depress the brake pedal.
3. Move the gear shift lever to the “M” position (manual mode).
4. Pull the gear shift lever back to upshift.
5. Push the gear shift lever forward to downshift.

Automatic gear shift

1. Move the gear lever to the “D” (drive) position.
2. Release the brake pedal.
3. The car automatically switches to the appropriate gear.

Almera Classic automatic transmission gear shift modes

P (parking)
* Blocks the gearbox output shafts.
* Used to park the car and when starting the engine.

R (reverse)
* Engages reverse gear.
*Used for reversing.

N (neutral)
*Disables transmission output shafts.
* Used when towing a vehicle or idling the engine.

D (drive)
* Automatically switches to the appropriate gear depending on load and speed.
*Used for normal driving.

OD (overdrive)
* Locks top gear to improve fuel economy.
* Used when driving at a constant speed.

L (low)
* Locks downshifts to increase traction.
* Used when driving uphill or towing heavy loads.
