Checking the oil level in the Subaru Tribeca automatic transmission

Materials:

* Automatic transmission oil dipstick
*Clean rag or paper towel

Procedure:

1. Warm up the engine and transmission: Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes to warm up the transmission oil.

2. Move the gear selector to all positions: Move the gear selector to each position (P, R, N, D, S), holding each position for a few seconds. This will allow the oil to circulate and indicate the correct level on the dipstick.

3. Move the gear selector to the “P” position: After checking all gear positions, return the gear selector to the “P” position.

4. Remove the dipstick: Pull the loop or handle of the automatic transmission dipstick.

5. Wipe the dipstick: Wipe the dipstick with a clean rag or paper towel.

6. Reinsert the dipstick: Insert the dipstick back into the tube and insert it completely.

7. Pull out the dipstick and check the level: Pull out the dipstick and check the oil level on the dipstick.

Oil levels:

* Minimum mark (MIN): If the oil level is at or below the minimum mark, add oil.
* Maximum mark (MAX): If the oil level is at the maximum mark or higher, excess oil should be pumped out.
* Optimal level: The optimal oil level is between the minimum and maximum marks.

Adding or pumping out oil:

*To add oil: Use a funnel to add automatic transmission oil that meets Subaru specifications. Add oil slowly, checking the level on the dipstick after each addition.
* To pump out the oil: Use an oil pump or take the vehicle to a service center to properly drain the excess oil.

Note:

*Always use the automatic transmission oil specified in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
* Check the automatic transmission oil level regularly, especially before driving long distances.
* If the oil level in the automatic transmission is too low or high, it can lead to problems with the transmission. If you find any abnormal levels, contact a certified mechanic.
