Signs of the approaching death of the automatic transmission:

* Jerks, Jerks and Slips: As the automatic transmission wears out, non-smooth gear shifts, jerks or slips may occur.
* Hum and Vibration: If wear is severe, a hum or vibration may be heard, especially at certain speeds.
*Transmission Fluid Leaks: Leaks may indicate blown gaskets or other problems causing fluid levels to drop and overheating.
* Burnt Smell: If your transmission smells burnt, it may be a sign of overheating or serious internal damage.
* Gear shifting problems: The transmission may begin to slip or refuse to shift gears properly.
* Automatic transmission warning light comes on: The automatic transmission warning light may come on on the dashboard, indicating a malfunction.
* Shift delay: As the transmission wears, there may be a delay in shifting, especially when shifting from a downshift to an upshift.
* Refusal to engage gears: In the worst case scenario, the automatic transmission can fail completely, refusing to engage any gears.
* Increased wear of parts: In a worn automatic transmission, there is increased wear of gears, bearings and other parts.
