Gear shifting in a Nissan Note automatic transmission is carried out as follows:

1. Move the shift lever to the “P” (Park) position: Insert the key and turn it to the “ON” position, but do not start the engine. Make sure the vehicle is stationary and the parking brake is engaged.
2. Depress the brake pedal: Depress the brake pedal fully to unlock the gear shift lever.
3. Select the desired gear: Move the gear shift lever to the desired gear position:

*D (Drive): For normal driving.
* N (Neutral): To start the engine or tow the vehicle.
* R (Reverse): To move backwards.
*P (Parking): To lock the vehicle in place when it is parked.
* S (Sport): For sport mode with faster gear changes and increased power. (Not available on all models)
* L (Low): For driving at low speeds or steep inclines. (Not available on all models)

4. Release the brake pedal: the transmission will automatically shift to the selected gear.

Additional notes:

*Always set the parking brake before moving the gearshift lever to the “P” position.
* Do not change gears while driving unless required for safety.
*Sport mode is intended for more aggressive driving and may result in increased fuel consumption.
* “L” mode provides additional power as well as greater engine braking and is used for steep climbs or descents.
