Location of the reverse sensor on the Audi 100 C4 with automatic transmission

The reverse sensor is located on the gearbox, to the right of the automatic transmission control unit.

Instructions for removing the reverse sensor:

1. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Locate the reverse sensor on the transmission. It usually has two wires (brown and white) and an M16x1.5 thread.
3. Unscrew the sensor using a 22mm wrench.
4. Be prepared for a small amount of transmission fluid to leak from the gearbox.
5. Remove the sensor.

Reverse sensor installation instructions:

1. Apply a small amount of sealant to the threads of the new sensor.
2. Screw the new sensor into the transmission.
3. Tighten the sensor to 40 Nm.
4. Connect the wires to the sensor.
5. Connect the negative terminal of the battery.

Additional tips:

* It is recommended to replace the sensor gasket when reinstalling.
* Do not use excessive force when tightening the sensor as this may damage the threads or the gearbox.
