Resetting automatic transmission adaptation on Kia Sportage 4

Materials:

* OBD2 fault code reader (optional)
* OBD2 connection cable
* Basic screwdriver

Instructions:

1. Preparation

* Make sure the vehicle is in Park (P) mode and the engine is off.
* Place the car on a flat surface.

2. Reading fault codes (optional)

* Connect the OBD2 reader to the vehicle’s diagnostic port.
* Set connection parameters (brand, model, year of manufacture, etc.).
* Diagnose the transmission system.
* Write down any trouble codes found, if any.

3. Reset adaptation

* Disconnect the negative battery terminal (black wire) using a basic screwdriver.
* Wait 10-15 minutes to discharge the automatic transmission capacitors.
*Touch the positive and negative terminals of the battery together to completely discharge the capacitors.
*Wait another 5-10 minutes.

4. Power connection

* Connect the negative battery terminal back to the battery.
* Start the engine and let it idle for 10-15 minutes.
* Drive the car as usual, allowing the automatic transmission to adapt to the new driving style.

5. Check

* Drive the car for longer periods of time under different driving conditions.
* Scan the vehicle using an OBD2 reader to check for trouble codes. If there are any persistent codes, resolve them.

Attention:

* Make sure the battery is in good condition as disconnecting it may drain the battery.
*Keep receipts of any work performed for documentation and warranty purposes.
*If you have any problems or doubts, please seek help from a professional mechanic.
