Required tools and materials:
* New automatic transmission oil seal (for Civic 4D use oil seal number 91214-PLR-A01)
* Transmission fluid (ATF)
* Disposable automatic transmission pan drain plug
* Drain plug O-ring
*Transmission lock bolt
* Screwdriver set
* Wrench set
* 17 mm socket with ratchet
* 10 mm head
* Lift or jacks and stands
Instructions:
1. Preparation:
* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
* Raise the car on a lift or place it on jacks with stands.
2. Draining transmission fluid:
* Locate the automatic transmission pan under the car.
* Remove the pan drain plug using a 17 mm socket and place a container underneath to catch the liquid.
*Remove the old O-ring and install the new one.
* Replace the drain plug with a new disposable plug.
3. Removing the transmission bolt:
* Locate the transmission lock bolt located in the area where the transmission is mounted to the engine.
* Unscrew the bolt using a 10mm socket.
4. Removing the oil seal:
* Carefully pry out the old oil seal with a screwdriver.
* Remove the oil seal and clean its surface.
5. Installing a new oil seal:
* Apply a small amount of transmission fluid to the surface of the new oil seal.
* Insert the new oil seal into the hole, pressing evenly.
6. Installing the transmission bolt:
* Clean the bolt from the old sealing gasket.
* Apply new liquid gasket to the bolt.
* Screw in the bolt and tighten it using a 10mm socket.
7. Filling with new transmission fluid:
* Open the hood and locate the dipstick to check the transmission fluid level.
* Pull out the dipstick and insert a special funnel with an extension into it.
* Pour transmission fluid into the transmission until the level reaches the “Full” mark on the dipstick.
* Check the fluid level after the vehicle has warmed up and been driven for some distance.
8. Completion:
* Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
* Lower the car.
* Check for leaks and make sure the transmission fluid level is correct.
Adviсe:
*Only use transmission fluid recommended for your vehicle.
* Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
