Repair of valve body of Opel Insignia automatic transmission

Tools and materials:

* Tool kit for removing and installing automatic transmission
* New valve body
* Valve block gasket
* Torque wrench
* Transmission fluid
* Flushing fluid for automatic transmission
* Automatic transmission filters
* Brake cleaner
* Soft bristle brush

Procedure:

1. Removing the valve body

* Remove the automatic transmission from the car.
* Disconnect the wiring and sensors from the valve body.
* Remove the bolts securing the valve body to the automatic transmission housing.
* Carefully remove the hydraulic unit from the housing.

2. Disassembling the valve body

* Disconnect the electrical connectors from the valve body.
* Remove the valve body cover.
* Carefully remove the plungers, springs and balls from the valve body.

3. Cleaning and inspection

* Clean all valve body parts with brake cleaner and a soft brush.
* Inspect parts for wear, damage or contamination.
* Check plungers and balls for binding.

4. Valve block assembly

* Install new plungers, springs and balls into the valve body.
* Install the valve body cover.
* Connect the electrical connectors.

5. Installation of the hydraulic unit

* Install the valve body gasket on the automatic transmission housing.
* Install the valve body on the automatic transmission housing.
* Tighten the valve body mounting bolts.
* Connect the wiring and sensors to the valve body.

6. Filling and bleeding the automatic transmission

* Install a new automatic transmission pan gasket.
* Install the automatic transmission pan.
* Pour new transmission fluid into the automatic transmission.
* Start the engine and let it idle for 10 minutes.
* Shift gears in sequence at idle speed.
* Check the transmission fluid level and add it if necessary.

7. Reset automatic transmission adaptations

* Use a diagnostic scanner to reset the automatic transmission adaptations.
* Drive the car for several days to allow the automatic transmission to adapt to the new valve body.

Adviсe:

* When removing the valve body, be careful not to damage the parts.
*Clean all valve body parts thoroughly before assembly.
* Tighten the valve body mounting bolts to the recommended torque.
* After repairing the valve body, always flush the automatic transmission and replace the filters.
