Repair of torque converter, automatic transmission 01N

1. Removing the torque converter

* Drain the transmission fluid.
* Disconnect the gearbox from the engine.
* Remove the torque converter by pulling it straight away from the engine flywheel.

2. Disassembling the torque converter

* Secure the torque converter in a vice.
* Remove the lock-up clutch, bolts and O-rings.
* Remove the torque converter cover and remove the internal components.

3. Inspection and cleaning

* Inspect all components for wear, damage or leaks.
* Clean all parts from dirt and debris.

4. Replacement of worn components

* Replace any worn or damaged components.
* Install new O-rings and gaskets.

5. Torque converter assembly

* Install the internal components into the torque converter cover.
* Install the cover on the torque converter and tighten the bolts.
* Install the lock-up clutch and bolts.

6. Installation of the torque converter

* Pull the torque converter onto the engine flywheel.
* Install the gearbox to the engine.
* Fill with transmission fluid.

7. Testing

* Start the engine and check that the torque converter is operating correctly.
