Mazda Capella automatic transmission repair

Required tools and materials:

* Transmission fluid ATF
*Transmission filter
* Oil pan gasket
* Sealant for gearboxes
* Metal cleaning brush
* Crankcase seal
* Transmission fluid level dipstick
* Wrench set
* Torque wrench
* Lift or jack

Repair procedure:

1. Draining transmission fluid

* Warm up the engine and gearbox.
* Place the car on a lift or jack it up.
* Unscrew the drain plug under the transmission pan and drain the fluid.

2. Removing the oil pan

* Unscrew the oil pan mounting bolts.
* Carefully pry up the tray and remove it.

3. Cleaning the oil pan and magnets

* Clean the oil pan of any remaining fluid and chips.
* Clean the magnets installed in the tray from metal shavings.

4. Filter replacement

* Remove the old filter from the housing.
* Install a new filter into the housing.

5. Installing the oil pan

* Apply sealant to the oil pan gasket.
* Install the gasket on the pan.
* Attach the pan to the gearbox.
*Tighten the pan mounting bolts with a torque wrench to specifications.

6. Filling with transmission fluid

* Remove the fluid level dipstick.
* Pour new transmission oil into the dipstick hole.
* Insert the dipstick and check the fluid level. It should be between the “MIN” and “MAX” marks when the gearbox is warm.

7. Reset fault codes

*Connect the diagnostic scanner to the car.
* Reset any transmission related fault codes.

8. Test ride

* Start the engine and let the transmission run for a few minutes.
* Switch transmission modes and check if it works properly.
* Take a test drive to check if the gear shifts correctly.

Note:

* When replacing transmission fluid, it is recommended to also replace the crankcase seal.
*Make sure you are using the correct type of transmission fluid recommended by the manufacturer.
* Torque all bolts to specifications to prevent leakage.
*If you are unsure of your skills, consult a qualified mechanic.
