Location of the automatic transmission drain plug in Mazda Bongo:
1. Raise the vehicle on a lift or place it on a level surface.
2. Locate the automatic transmission pan under the car. It is usually made of aluminum or steel and is located at the bottom of the gearbox.
3. Clean the area around the drain plug with a wire brush to remove dirt and debris.
Draining transmission fluid:
1. Place a drain pan of sufficient capacity under the drain hole.
2. Using a suitable hex wrench or socket wrench, carefully remove the drain plug. Do not lose the plug and O-ring.
3. Allow the transmission fluid to drain completely. This process may take about 15 minutes.
4. When finished, close the drain hole with a new drain plug and O-ring. Tighten to the specified torque.
Recommended tightening torque for the Mazda Bongo automatic transmission drain plug:
* 18-22 lb-ft (24-30 Nm)
Note:
* Before draining the transmission fluid, warm up the vehicle for a few minutes to thin the fluid.
* Do not over-tighten the drain plug, as this may damage the automatic transmission pan.
* Dispose of used transmission fluid according to local regulations.
