Toyota Corona automatic transmission kickdown cable

Purpose:

* Connects the accelerator pedal to the automatic transmission.
* When the accelerator pedal is pressed all the way down, it downshifts, forcing the engine to operate at higher speeds by increasing the pressure in the automatic transmission.

Location:

* The kickdown cable is located in the engine compartment and connects the accelerator pedal to the automatic transmission.
* Most often attached to the accelerator pedal and inserted into the automatic transmission housing.

Adjustment:

Correct adjustment of the kickdown cable is extremely important for the correct operation of the automatic transmission.

1. Loosen the kickdown cable locknut and turn the throttle body fully counterclockwise.
2. Press the accelerator pedal to the floor and hold it in this position.
3. Tighten the kickdown cable locknut.
4. Release the accelerator pedal and make sure it returns to its original position.

Malfunctions:

*Damaged or stretched cable: Causes incorrect adjustment and shifting problems.
* Poor connection: Can cause problems with power transmission, resulting in delays when shifting gears.
* Faulty recoil spring: may prevent the cable from returning to its original position, resulting in constant activation of the kickdown mode.

Warning:

Adjusting the kickdown cable is a critical task that should be left to a qualified mechanic to avoid damage to the automatic transmission.
