Required tools and materials:
* New automatic transmission fluid filter
* Automatic transmission oil pan gasket
* Automatic transmission fluid oil (volume may require more than indicated in the operating manual)
* Extension for ratchet
* 10 mm head
* 17 mm head
* Oil drain container
The procedure for replacing an automatic transmission filter on a Hyundai Solaris 2015:
1. Provide access to the automatic transmission pan: Raise the car on a lift or place it on reliable supports.
2. Drain the automatic transmission oil: Find the drain plug on the automatic transmission oil pan and place a drain container under it. Carefully unscrew the drain plug and drain the oil. Let the oil drain completely.
3. Remove the automatic transmission oil pan: Use a 10 mm socket to remove the bolts securing the automatic transmission oil pan. Carefully remove the oil pan, being careful not to spill any remaining oil.
4. Replace the automatic transmission filter: Locate and remove the old automatic transmission filter. Install the new filter and make sure it is securely attached.
5. Clean the automatic transmission oil pan: Clean the automatic transmission oil pan of old oil and debris. If necessary, replace the oil pan gasket.
6. Install the automatic transmission oil pan: Install the automatic transmission oil pan back into place and tighten the mounting bolts with a 10 mm socket.
7. Fill the automatic transmission oil: Fill the automatic transmission with new transmission fluid oil in accordance with the volume specified in the operating manual.
8. Check the automatic transmission oil level: Start the engine and let it idle. Check the automatic transmission oil level using the dipstick and add oil if necessary.
9. Reset the automatic transmission oil change counter: Locate the automatic transmission oil change counter reset button, usually located on the dashboard. Press and hold the button for a few seconds to reset the counter.
10. Test Drive: After completing the filter and oil changes, test drive the vehicle to ensure proper operation of the transmission.
Note: When replacing the automatic transmission filter, it is recommended to also change the transmission fluid oil. The interval for changing the automatic transmission filter and oil depends on the operating conditions and the manufacturer’s recommendations.
