Signs of an automatic transmission:
* The gear selector lever has the following positions: P (park), R (reverse), N (neutral), D (drive), sometimes also L (low).
* The vehicle starts moving as soon as the lever is moved to position D, without the need to press the gas pedal.
* When you release the brake pedal, the car starts to move slowly.
* The gear shift lever moves smoothly between positions without any noticeable clicking or resistance.
Features of a robot box:
* The gear selector lever is similar to the automatic transmission lever, but can also have an M position (manual mode).
* The vehicle does not move immediately after moving the lever to position D. The gas pedal must be pressed first.
* A noticeable shock or vibration may be felt when shifting gears.
* The shift lever may move with a noticeable click or resistance.
* In manual mode (M), the driver can change gears manually using the steering wheel paddles or the selector lever.
Other differences:
* Fuel consumption: Automatic transmissions usually have lower fuel consumption than robotic transmissions.
* Acceleration dynamics: Cars with robotic gearboxes may have higher acceleration dynamics, especially in manual mode.
* Cost: Robot boxes are often cheaper than automatic boxes.
Note: Some manufacturers may use the terms “automatic” and “automatic” interchangeably to refer to semi-automatic transmissions.
