Removing emergency mode of Honda automatic transmission
Error diagnosis:
1. Start the engine and switch to “D” (drive) mode.
2. If the automatic transmission is in emergency mode, the “D” indicator will flash on the dashboard.
3. Write down the error code displayed on the instrument panel.
Automatic transmission ECU reset:
1. Stop the vehicle and set the parking brake.
2. Turn off the engine and wait 30 seconds.
3. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait 10 minutes.
4. Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
5. Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature.
6. Switch to “D” (Drive) mode and keep your foot on the brake for 30 seconds.
7. Switch to “P” (parking) mode.
8. Turn off the engine.
Resetting the error code:
1. Use a hand-held OBD-II scanner to read and clear the error code from the automatic transmission control unit.
Checking the automatic transmission fluid:
1. Check the automatic transmission fluid level using the dipstick.
2. Fill the automatic transmission fluid if necessary.
Troubleshooting:
1. If resetting the automatic transmission ECU and resetting the error code does not resolve the problem, you may need to have it diagnosed by an authorized Honda dealer.
2. Common problems that can cause an automatic transmission to limp include low automatic transmission fluid, faulty solenoids, and a faulty automatic transmission control module.
