Required tools:
* Wrench set
* Transmission jack
* Wrench extension
Steps:
1. Ensure safety. Apply the parking brake and block the rear wheels.
2. Disconnect the battery. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Drain the transmission fluid. Locate the drain plug on the transmission and place a container under it. Drain the liquid into a container.
4. Disconnect the drive shafts. Unscrew the bolts securing the drive shafts to the gearbox and remove them.
5. Disconnect the shift cables. Locate the shift cable and disconnect it from the bracket on the transmission.
6. Disconnect the wiring. Disconnect all wires and sensors connected to the transmission.
7. Install the transmission jack. Place the transmission jack under the transmission.
8. Raise the transmission. Slowly raise the transmission using a jack.
9. Disconnect the transmission mounts. Remove the bolts securing the gearbox to the engine.
10. Disconnect the gearbox from the engine. Carefully remove the transmission from the engine.
Notes:
* Do not remove the transmission from the engine without the support of a jack.
* Be careful when disconnecting the transmission as it is heavy.
* Before installing a new transmission, repair or replace the seals where it is installed.
