Symptoms of automatic transmission malfunction
Slipping or delay when shifting gears:
* The transmission slips when changing gears, which manifests itself as an increase in engine speed without adequate acceleration.
* The transmission delays shifting to the next gear or shifts jerkily.
Vibration or noise:
* The transmission vibrates or makes noise when changing gears or when driving at certain speeds.
*Humming or humming sounds may indicate faulty hydraulic components or bearings.
Fluid leak:
* Red or light-colored fluid (transmission) is leaking under the vehicle.
* Check the fluid level and add if necessary.
Burning smell:
* A burning smell may indicate overheating or burning of the friction discs.
Refusal to shift into certain gears:
* The transmission cannot shift into one or more gears.
* It may get stuck in a certain gear or go into neutral for no apparent reason.
Slip:
* The car slips or cannot gain speed due to lack of torque transmitted to the wheels.
Difficulty engaging gear:
* It is difficult to move the gear shift lever into park or drive.
* The transmission may make squeaking or clicking noises.
Check Engine Light:
* The check engine light may come on, indicating a problem with the transmission.
Other symptoms:
*Poor acceleration or engine power mismatch
* Increased fuel consumption
* Unusual bumps or jolts when shifting gears
* Difficulty switching to manual control mode (if available)
Important Note: If you notice any of these symptoms, contact a qualified mechanic immediately. Delay in repairs can result in further damage to the transmission and more expensive repairs.
