Checking the solenoids of the automatic transmission 6HP26
Required tools:
* Multimeter
* Wiring diagram for automatic transmission 6HP26
Check procedure:
1. Solenoid identification
Determine the location of the solenoids in accordance with the wiring diagram of the 6HP26 automatic transmission:
* A – Pressure control solenoid
* B – Shift Solenoid 1-2
*C – Shift Solenoid 2-3
* D – Torque converter lock-up solenoid
* E – Shift Solenoid 4-5
* F – Shift Solenoid 5-6
2. Disabling solenoids
Disconnect the automatic transmission connector to disable all solenoids.
3. Solenoid resistance measurement
Using a multimeter, measure the resistance of each solenoid between the terminals:
* Pressure control solenoids (A): 2.5-4.5 ohms
*Shift solenoids (B, C, E, F): 6-12 ohms
*Torque converter lock-up solenoid (D): 5-10 ohms
4. Conductivity test
* Reconnect the automatic transmission connector.
* Set the multimeter to conductivity (diode) mode.
* Lightly tap the solenoids and at the same time check continuity between the terminals.
5. Interpretation of results
* Normal resistance: The solenoid is functioning properly.
*Low resistance or short circuit: The solenoid is faulty and must be replaced.
*High resistance or open: The solenoid is faulty and must be replaced.
* No continuity: The solenoid circuit is open, possibly due to a faulty wire or connector.
Note:
* Before checking, make sure that the automatic transmission is in park position and the engine is turned off.
*Do not exceed the specified resistance values as this may damage the solenoids.
*If any solenoid is not working properly, not only the solenoid itself must be replaced, but also any damaged wires or connectors.
