Changing the oil in a Honda Pilot automatic transmission

Materials:

* Automatic transmission oil Honda ATF DW-1 (about 4 liters)
* Transmission filter
* Transmission pan gasket
* Transmission pan plug with new washer
* Tool set

Instructions:

1. Preparation:

* Place the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
* Place a container under the transmission pan to collect old oil.

2. Draining old oil:

* Unscrew the transmission pan plug and drain the old oil.
* Let all the oil drain (usually about 30 minutes).
* Install a new gasket on the pan and tighten the plug with a new washer to the specified torque (25 Nm).

3. Removing the pallet:

* Bend back the edges of the transmission pan to loosen the seal.
* Carefully remove the pan, being careful not to spill any remaining oil.

4. Filter replacement:

* Remove the old filter from the pan.
* Insert the new filter into the pan and secure it.

5. Cleaning the tray:

* Clean the pan of any remaining oil and metal particles.
* Remove the old gasket and wipe the surface of the pan.

6. Installation of the pallet:

* Place the new pan in place and bolt it to the specified torque (14 Nm).

7. Filling with new oil:

* Pour new oil into the gearbox through the filler plug.
* Pour about 3 liters and check the oil level on the dipstick.
*Add more oil as needed to reach the “hot” mark while the engine is running.

8. Completion:

* Make sure the oil level is correct and there are no leaks.
* Reset the transmission service counter (if equipped).
* Drive the vehicle with the gear shift to distribute fresh oil throughout the system.

Notes:

* It is recommended to change the oil in the Honda Pilot automatic transmission every 30,000-60,000 kilometers.
* Use only Honda certified ATF DW-1 oil.
* Changing the filter is not required at every oil change, but it is recommended to do it every 100,000-120,000 kilometers.
*If you do not have experience working with transmissions, it is recommended that you have your oil changed by a qualified mechanic.
