Electrical requirements for washing machines
Voltage and frequency:
* Most washing machines operate at a voltage of 220 – 240 V and a frequency of 50 Hz.
* Make sure that the voltage and frequency of your power supply matches the parameters of your washing machine.
Power:
*The power of washing machines varies depending on the model and type.
* It is not recommended to connect the washing machine with a power exceeding the rated power of the outlet.
Current:
* The current consumed by the washing machine depends on its power and operating mode.
* Make sure that the wiring and circuit breaker are rated for the maximum current of the washing machine.
Socket type:
* Washing machines typically use Type E grounding receptacles (in Europe) or NEMA 10-30 grounding type receptacles (in North America).
* Make sure that the outlet matches the washing machine plug and that it is properly grounded.
Protective grounding:
* All washing machines must be grounded.
* Grounding provides a path for electrical current to flow safely to ground in the event of a short circuit or fault.
* The outlet must be properly grounded using a grounding wire.
Residual current device (RCD):
* Installing an RCD is recommended to increase the safety of the washing machine.
* The RCD will trip and cut off the power if current leakage occurs, which can prevent electric shock.
Additional tips:
*Use a separate wire for the washing machine.
*Ensure that wiring complies with all applicable electrical codes.
* Check electrical wiring and outlets regularly for signs of damage or overheating.
* Do not attempt to repair the electrical components of the washing machine yourself. Contact a qualified electrician.
* Keep the washing machine away from water and other sources of moisture.
* Always unplug your washing machine before performing maintenance.
