Responsibilities of a truck electrician
* Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical systems in trucks
* Install, repair and maintain electrical components such as generators, starters, batteries and lighting.
* Install and maintain communications and security systems such as CB radios, GPS units and alarms
* Perform routine maintenance and inspections of electrical systems
* Identify potential problems and recommend solutions to resolve them
* Advise clients on maintenance and repair of electrical systems
* Comply with safety and manufacturing standards
Requirements for an electrician for trucks
* Truck Electrician Certificate or equivalent experience
*Excellent knowledge of truck electrical system principles, including wiring diagrams and component operation
* Diagnostics and troubleshooting skills
* Ability to use diagnostic equipment and instruments
* Experience with power tools and materials
*Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
* Ability to work with details and high precision
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Willingness to work irregular hours and in difficult conditions
Additional skills and qualifications
* Commercial Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Certification
* Knowledge of electronic transmission control systems (ECM) and on-board diagnostics (OBD) systems
* Knowledge of diesel engines and their electrical systems
* Experience in installation and maintenance of air conditioning systems
* Welding and soldering skills
* Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) (preferred)
