Automatic transmission drain plug Honda CR-V RD1

Location:

The drain plug is located on the automatic transmission oil pan, which is located under the vehicle.

Specifications:

*Type: Hex Head Plug
* Hex size: 17mm
*Length: About 20mm
* Thread: M14 x 1.5

Required tools:

* Hex key 17 mm
* Flathead screwdriver (optional)

Replacement Instructions:

1. Place the vehicle on a level surface and set the parking brake.
2. Locate the drain plug on the automatic transmission oil pan. It is usually located at the bottom of the tray.
3. Place a container to receive the drained oil under the drain plug.
4. Loosen the drain plug using a 17mm hex wrench.
5. Be prepared for transmission oil leakage. Hold the container firmly and keep it away from the hot oil.
6. Wait until all the oil has drained.
7. Clean the drain plug and O-ring of any dirt using a flathead screwdriver or rag.
8. Apply a small amount of transmission oil to the O-ring and install the new or existing O-ring onto the drain plug.
9. Hand tighten the drain plug back into place.
10. Tighten the drain plug completely using a 17mm hex wrench. Do not overtighten.

Note:

* Replace the transmission oil and filter regularly according to the service intervals specified in the vehicle’s owner’s manual.
*Use transmission oil that meets Honda specifications for your specific vehicle.
