Procedure for a complete automatic transmission oil change on a Chevrolet Captiva C100

Materials:

* New automatic transmission oil recommended by the manufacturer (about 10 liters)
* New automatic transmission filter
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Magnets for tray (optional)
* Pump for pumping out liquid
* Funnel
* Set of keys
* Rags

Instructions:

1. Preparation:

* Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature.
* Turn off the engine and let it cool for a few minutes.
* Park the car on a level surface.

2. Pumping out old oil:

* Find the automatic transmission fluid intake tube. It is usually located under the hood and connected to the radiator.
* Loosen the clamp on the tube and remove it from the radiator.
* Insert the sump pump hose into the fluid intake tube and pump out as much old oil as possible.

3. Removing the automatic transmission pan:

* Place a tray under the car.
* Unscrew the automatic transmission pan bolts. Caution, contents may be hot.
* Remove the pan and remove the automatic transmission filter stuck to it.

4. Cleaning the pan and replacing the filter:

* Clean the pan of old oil and chips. You can use an engine parts cleaner or degreaser.
* Check the sump cooling system for dirt or damage.
* Install a new automatic transmission filter.

5. Installing the automatic transmission pan:

*If you want to add magnets to the tray, glue them using epoxy glue.
* Apply some transmission fluid to the new pan gasket.
* Reinstall the automatic transmission pan and tighten the bolts.

6. Filling with new oil:

* Using a funnel, fill the automatic transmission with new oil. The amount of oil depends on the car model, but in general it is about 10 liters.
* Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
* Check the fluid level using the dipstick and add if necessary.

7. Reset adaptations:

* Disconnect the battery for one minute to reset the automatic transmission adaptations.
* Reconnect the battery.

8. Checking leaks and checking fluid levels:

* Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
*Check under the car for leaks.
* Check the fluid level using the dipstick and add if necessary.

Attention:

* Always follow the vehicle owner’s manual when servicing the automatic transmission.
* Use only automatic transmission fluid recommended by the manufacturer.
*Be careful with hot oil.
*If you are not confident in your skills, have your vehicle serviced by a professional workshop.
