Responsibilities:

* Diagnosis, repair and replacement of electrical components and systems of automobiles, including:
* Batteries
* Starters
* Generators
* Ignition systems
* Lighting systems
* Engine management systems
*Wiring harnesses
* Installation and maintenance of electrical accessories and additional equipment such as:
* Alarm systems
* Navigation systems
* Stereo systems
* Electric window lifts
* Maintenance and repair of electrical systems of commercial vehicles
* Reading and interpreting electrical diagrams
* Conducting testing and calibration of electrical systems
* Identifying and eliminating electrical faults

Requirements:

* Secondary specialized or higher technical education in the field of electronics or automotive engineering
*Minimum [X] years of experience as an automotive electrician
*Excellent knowledge of electrical principles, automotive electrical systems and electronic components
* Skills in working with measuring instruments and diagnostic equipment
* Ability to read and understand electrical diagrams
*ASE Certification or equivalent
*Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
* Driver’s license and accident-free driving
* Ability to work under deadlines and pressure
*Experience with hybrid and electric vehicles preferred

Skills and abilities:

* Diagnostics and troubleshooting
* Repair and replacement of components
* Reading and interpreting electrical diagrams
* Installation and maintenance of electrical equipment
* Knowledge of electrical principles
* Knowledge of automotive electrical systems
* Skills in working with power tools
* Soldering and welding skills
* Knowledge of hybrid and electric vehicles (preferred)

Additional information:

Automotive electricians often work in repair shops or car dealerships. Their responsibilities may include traveling to vehicles on call and working on site.
