Automatic transmission shift knob

Purpose: Control of automatic transmission operating modes, such as:

*Parking (P)
* Reverse gear (R)
* Neutral (N)
* Drive (D)
*Sport (S) (on some models)
*Manual mode (M) (on some models)

Design:

* Usually made of plastic, leather or metal.
* Has an ergonomic shape for a comfortable grip.
*Connects to the gearbox via cable or electronic mechanism.

Functions:

* Moving the handle to the desired position allows you to select the appropriate gearbox operating mode.
*Pressing a button or latch may be required to switch to some modes, such as Park or Manual.
* Some shift knobs are equipped with position sensors that provide information to the engine control unit (ECU).

Types of automatic transmission shift knobs:

* Classic Lever: Traditional design reminiscent of a manual transmission.
* Selector lever: Smaller and easier to use, often found in modern cars.
* Column selector: A lever located on the steering column.
* Joystick: A joystick-like handle that is used to select modes and change gears.
