Automatic transmission pan bolt tightening diagram

1. Cleaning and preparation

* Clean the surface around the automatic transmission pan and bolts.
* Apply sealant to the new pan gasket according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

2. Tightening sequence

Tighten the pan bolts in the following sequence:

For 4-bolt pallets:

* 1
* 3
* 2
* 4

For 6 bolt pallets:

* 1
* 3
* 5
* 2
* 4
* 6

3. Tightening torque

Tighten the pan bolts to the specified torque:

* Most passenger cars: 7-12 Nm (5-9 lb-ft)
* Trucks and SUVs: 14-24 Nm (10-18 lb-ft)

4. Extra tightening

After the initial tightening, perform an additional 90 degree tightening.

5. Final check

Make sure all bolts are securely tightened and that the pan gasket is installed correctly.

Warning: Do not overtighten the pan bolts, as this may cause them to break or damage the automatic transmission.
