Automatic transmission control
An automatic transmission is a gearbox that automatically changes gears depending on the speed of the vehicle and the load on the engine.
Gear selector modes
* P (Parking) – used to park the car. The transmission is mechanically blocked.
* R (Reverse) – used to move the vehicle backwards.
* N (Neutral) – the gearbox is in neutral, there is no transmission of torque from the engine to the wheels.
* D (Drive) – normal driving mode. The transmission automatically changes gears depending on engine speed and load.
* S (Sport) – mode with later gear changes for improved acceleration.
* L (Low gear) – used for driving the vehicle in off-road conditions or when towing.
* M (Manual) – allows you to manually change gears.
Using the gear selector
* To change gears, press the lock button on the selector, then move the selector to the desired mode.
* To switch from P or R mode, first press the brake pedal.
* To switch from mode to N, D, S or L mode, you do not need to press the brake pedal.
Tips for operating an automatic transmission
* Do not switch to P or R mode while driving.
* Use N mode only when the vehicle is at a complete stop and the brake pedal is pressed.
* Avoid sudden acceleration and braking.
* Regularly service the automatic transmission in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
* If you feel any problems such as slipping, jerking or noises, consult a mechanic.
Additional automatic transmission functions
* Fuel Economy Mode: Automatically upshifts to improve fuel economy.
* Hill Assist Mode: Keeps the vehicle in place when driving uphill.
*Speed Limit Mode: Limits the vehicle’s maximum speed.
*Manual Shift Mode: Allows you to manually shift gears using the steering wheel paddles or gear selector.
