Checking the automatic transmission oil level on Renault cars

Required tools:

*Clean rag or paper towel
* Key for unscrewing the drain plug (if required)

Note: Before checking the oil level, make sure the vehicle is on level ground and the transmission is in Park (P).

Procedure:

1. Warm up the engine and transmission: Drive the car for several kilometers to warm up the automatic transmission fluid.

2. Find the automatic transmission oil level plug: It is usually located on the side of the gearbox. On most Renault models, the oil level plug is yellow or red.

3. Remove the oil level plug: The plug is usually unscrewed by hand or with a wrench.

4. Check the oil level:

* If oil leaks from the hole: The oil level is sufficient.
* If the oil does not flow out or flows out too slowly: The oil level is low and needs to be topped up.

5. If necessary, add oil: Use automatic transmission oil recommended by the manufacturer for your model. Add oil until it begins to flow out of the hole.

6. Screw the oil level plug back in and tighten: Tighten the oil level plug by hand or with a wrench.

Features of some Renault models:

* Megane 2 and 3: Access to the oil level plug is only possible through a special hole in the engine compartment.
* Logan and Sandero: To check the oil level, you must first unscrew the drain plug and plug the drain hole with a wooden stick.
* Scenic and Espace: The oil level plug may be difficult to reach and may require a special tool to remove.

Recommended frequency of checking the automatic transmission oil level:

* Every 6 months or 5000 km

Note: Checking the automatic transmission oil level regularly will help prevent transmission damage due to low or contaminated oil levels.
