Position P (Parking)

* The steered wheels are blocked.
*Used for parking or long stops.
* The ignition key can only be removed in this position.

Position R (Reverse)

* Enabled for rearward travel.

Position N (Neutral)

*No transfer.
* Used to start the engine or drive the vehicle while idling.

Position D (Drive)

* Standard position for automatic gear shifting under normal driving conditions.
* The transmission automatically changes gears, choosing the optimal gear for speed and load.

Position (2)

* Limits transmission to second gear.
* Used on steep inclines, when driving on snow or ice.

Position L (1)

* Limits transmission to first gear.
* Used when driving on very steep climbs, in severe off-road conditions or for engine braking.

Position S (Sport)

* Holds gear longer for improved acceleration performance.

Additional provisions

* Tipotronic (if equipped): Allows manual gear selection using the gear levers or steering wheel paddles.
* Sequential Mode (if equipped): Allows you to sequentially shift up and down gears, just like a manual transmission.
