Types of automatic transmission using reverse speed:

1. Hydraulic gearbox

*Uses a torque converter that provides smooth gear shifting and reduced engine load.
* Has a separate mechanism for reverse speed.
* Usually indicated by the letter ‘R’ on the gear selector.

2. CVT (CVT)

*Uses a metal belt or chain that changes dimensions to provide a smooth change in gear ratio.
*Can have two separate gears: one for forward and one for reverse.
* Or it may have one set of gears that reverses the direction of travel using a differential mechanism.

3. Robotic Transmission (RMT)/Dual Disc Transmission (DCT)

* Automatic transmission, which uses sensors and electronics but does not have a traditional torque converter.
* Usually has a separate shaft and gears for reverse speed.
* May be indicated as ‘R’ on the gear selector or have a separate button or lever for shifting into reverse.

4.Double Clutch Gearbox (DSG)

*Transmits power to the wheels using two clutches.
* Has a separate set of gears for reverse speed.
* Usually indicated by the letter ‘R’ on the gear selector.

5. All-electric powertrains

* In electric vehicles, transmission is usually carried out using a single-stage gearbox.
* Achieving reverse speed is usually accomplished by reversing the direction of engine rotation.
