Adjusting the Toyota Surf automatic transmission cable

Tools required for adjustment:

* Wrench set
* Pliers
* Flat blade screwdriver

Adjustment process:

1. Place the gear shift lever in the “Park” position.
2. Find the automatic transmission cable. It is usually located in the engine compartment near the throttle body.
3. Loosen the locknut on the lower cable joint. To do this, use a wrench.
4. Adjust the free play of the cable. Rotate the cable end with a wrench or pliers until the free play is 12-15 mm.
5. Tighten the locknut.
6. Check the cable operation. Move the gearshift lever through all positions to ensure that gear shifts smoothly and accurately.

Note:

*If the cable free play is too small, gear shifts may be difficult or delayed.
* If the cable play is too large, it may cause the gears to slip or fall out.

Adviсe:

* When making adjustments, check the free play of the cable to ensure accuracy.
