Required tools:

* 12 mm spanner
* 17 mm spanner
* Flat head screwdriver

Instructions for adjusting the automatic transmission cable on a Suzuki Escudo:

1. Place the car on a level surface. Apply the parking brake.
2. Open the hood.
3. Remove the air filter. To do this, unscrew the screws securing the air filter cover and remove it.
4. Find the automatic transmission cable. It is located next to the engine and is a thin braided metal cable.
5. Unscrew the upper adjustment nut. Use a 12mm socket wrench.
6. Unscrew the lower adjustment nut. Use a 17 mm socket wrench.
7. Remove the screwdriver from the gearbox socket. Make sure the screwdriver fits snugly into the socket.
8. Push the transmission lever into the Park position.
9. Tighten the upper adjustment nut. Tighten it 1/4 turn.
10. Reinsert the screwdriver into the transmission socket.
11. Lower the gear lever to the “Drive” position.
12. Tighten the lower adjustment nut. Tighten it until you feel some resistance.
13. Reinstall the air filter.
14. Close the hood.

Checking the adjustment:

* Start the engine.
* Move the gear lever to different positions.
* Make sure each position switches smoothly and without delay.
* If gear shifting does not occur properly, repeat the adjustment.

Adviсe:

* Automatic transmission cables should be adjusted every 50,000 km or more often if you are experiencing problems with gear shifting.
*If you are unsure, consult a qualified mechanic.
* Make sure that the automatic transmission cable is not slack or too tight.
