Adjusting the Mitsubishi Pajero automatic transmission fluid level

Materials:

* Automatic transmission fluid recommended by the manufacturer
* Funnel
* Rags
* Wrench or hexagon (for unscrewing drain and fill plugs)

Instructions:

1. Warm up:
* Start the engine and let the car idle for 5-10 minutes until the transmission fluid reaches operating temperature.

2. Level determination:
* Park the car on a level surface. Place the gear shift lever in the “Parking” position.
* Open the hood and find the dipstick to check the automatic transmission fluid level. It is usually marked in red or orange.
* Remove the dipstick and wipe it with a rag. Insert the dipstick back into the transmission until it stops.
* Pull out the dipstick and inspect it:
* If the fluid level is between the “MIN” and “MAX” marks, the level is correct.
* If the level is below the “MIN” mark, it is necessary to add fluid.
* If the level is above the “MAX” mark, excess fluid must be drained.

3. Adding liquid:
*If the fluid level is low, use a funnel to add fluid to the filler neck located next to the dipstick.
* Add fluid little by little and periodically check the level with the dipstick.
*Do not overfill liquid.

4. Draining excess liquid:
* If the fluid level is too high, the excess fluid must be drained.
* Place a container under the automatic transmission drain plug located at the bottom of the transmission.
* Unscrew the drain plug using a wrench or hexagon and drain the liquid.
* Screw the drain plug back.
* Check the fluid level using the dipstick and add more fluid if necessary.

5. Fluid renewal:
* To update the automatic transmission fluid, it is recommended to contact a service station, where the fluid and filter will be completely replaced.

Adviсe:

* Use only the fluid recommended by the manufacturer for the specific model and year of your vehicle.
* Check the automatic transmission fluid level regularly, especially before long trips.
* Seek help from a service station immediately if you notice an automatic transmission fluid leak or unusual transmission behavior.
