Transmission solenoid Toyota Corona ST190 with automatic transmission
Purpose:
* Gear shift control in an automatic transmission.
Location:
* On the gearbox housing.
Solenoid types:
* Shift Solenoid: Controls the transition to different gears, such as from first to second.
* Torque converter lock-up solenoid: Locks the torque converter at higher speeds for improved efficiency.
* Pressure Solenoid: Regulates fluid pressure inside the transmission for smooth gear shifting.
Malfunctions:
*A faulty solenoid can result in:
* Heavy gear shifting
* Slip when changing gears
* Delays when shifting gears
* Strange sounds when shifting gears
Replacement:
* To replace the solenoid, the transmission pan must be removed.
* Connect the new solenoid to the wiring harness.
* Install a new solenoid into the transmission housing.
* Tighten the solenoid bolts.
* Reinstall the transmission pan.
Note:
*Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for replacing the solenoid.
*Using poor quality solenoids may cause further transmission problems.
* Regularly changing transmission fluid can extend the life of the solenoids.
