Reverse solenoid automatic transmission 5HP19

Purpose:

* Controls shifting into reverse gear in a 5HP19 automatic transmission.

Device:

* The solenoid actuator is an electromagnet that, when energized, creates a magnetic field.
* The magnetic field acts on the control valve, which directs the flow of transmission fluid into the appropriate channels of the automatic transmission.
* Opening the control valve ensures that fluid under pressure is supplied to the piston, which engages reverse gear.

Location:

* Usually located in the automatic transmission valve body.

Working principle:

* When reverse gear is engaged, power is supplied to the reverse solenoid through the shift lever or selector switch on the instrument panel.
* The electromagnet creates a magnetic field that opens the control valve.
* Fluid under pressure is directed into the piston, which engages reverse gear.

Refusal:

* Reverse solenoid failure can result in:
* Inability to engage reverse gear
* Delay in shifting to reverse gear
* Slipping when reversing

Diagnostics:

* Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)
* Checking the electrical resistance of the solenoid
*Checking transmission fluid pressure

Replacement:

*Replacement of the reverse solenoid must be performed by a qualified technician.
* To replace it, you need to remove the automatic transmission valve body and disassemble it.
* The new solenoid is installed in the reverse order of removal.
