Engine management system (ECM) with automatic transmission (AT)

The ECM is the central control module that controls various engine and transmission functions in vehicles with automatic transmission. The system integrates inputs from sensors, modules and data buses to optimize performance, fuel economy and safety.

Main components:

* Engine Control Module (ECM): The central processing unit that processes data, calculates parameters, and sends commands to other components.
*Transmission Control Module (TCM): Controls the automatic transmission, including gear selection, torque control, and gear shifting.
* Engine Sensors: Monitor engine parameters such as rotation speed, throttle position, temperature and pressure.
* Automatic Transmission Sensors: Monitor transmission parameters such as input and output shaft speeds, temperature and pressure.
* Electronic accelerator pedal (e-gas): Provides pedal position data and calculates the desired throttle position.
* CAN bus: Allows modules to exchange data.

Functions:

* Engine Management: Adjusts fuel injection, ignition and other parameters to optimize power, torque and fuel economy.
* Automatic transmission control: Determines the optimal gear, taking into account engine load, driving speed and accelerator pedal position.
* Engine speed control: Adjusts idle speed, maintains constant speed when accelerating and reduces speed when shifting gears.
* Engine and Transmission Protection: Monitors engine and transmission parameters to prevent damage caused by excessive temperature, pressure or speed.
* Diagnosis and Troubleshooting: Stores trouble codes that can be read by a diagnostic scanner to determine engine or transmission problems.

Interconnection with other systems:

The ECM interfaces with other systems including:

* ABS and ESC systems to control directional stability and braking.
* Cruise control system to maintain the set speed.
* Traction control system to prevent wheel slip.

Integrating the ECM with the automatic transmission ensures smooth, economical and reliable driving.
