Symptoms of a faulty automatic transmission selector:

1. Difficulty shifting gears:

* In some cars with an immobilizer system, a faulty automatic transmission selector may prevent the engine from starting.
* The vehicle may not start in certain selector positions.

5. Extraneous noise:

* Grinding or clicking noise when shifting gears.
* Humming or vibration when the selector is in the “P” or “N” position.

6. Failure of the ignition switch:

* A faulty automatic transmission selector can lead to failure of the ignition switch, as it is connected to the ignition switch interlock system.
* Difficulty turning the ignition on or off.

7. Inaccurate adjustment of the gear shift cable:

* Incorrect shift cable adjustment can simulate a faulty automatic transmission selector.
* Difficulty shifting gears due to loose or too tight cables.

8. Electrical problems:

* Damage to the wiring or connectors associated with the automatic transmission selector may cause it to malfunction.
*A short circuit or open circuit may cause intermittent or permanent problems.
