Automatic transmission selector

P (Park) – The transmission is in park and all gears are locked.

R (Reverse) – The transmission is in reverse.

N (Neutral) – The gearbox is in neutral, the gear is not engaged.

D (Drive) – Primary driving mode, the transmission automatically shifts gears for optimal fuel consumption and performance.

2 or S (Sport) – A mode in which the transmission holds higher gears, providing better acceleration and higher speed. Some models may also have a manual gear shift mode.

1 or L (Low) – A mode in which the transmission remains in first or low gear, providing additional power at low speeds or when driving off-road.

Additional meanings

D3 – The gearbox automatically changes gears to third.
D4 – The gearbox automatically changes gears to fourth.
Overdrive (O/D) – A switch that activates or deactivates the overdrive function, which engages an additional gear to save fuel when driving at high speeds.
+/- – Manual shift mode, allowing the driver to manually upshift or downshift.
