Chevrolet Captiva automatic transmission adaptation reset

Materials:

* OBD2 scanner
* Tool set (optional)

Steps:

1. Preparation

* Make sure the engine is turned off.
* Connect the OBD2 scanner to the vehicle’s diagnostic connector.

2. Reading fault codes (optional)

*If any problems occur with the automatic transmission, it is recommended to read the fault codes before proceeding.

3. Clear fault codes

* If trouble codes are detected, clear them using a scanner.

4. Automatic transmission adaptation reset

* Find in the scanner the “Automatic transmission adaptation reset” or “Automatic transmission calibration” function.
* Start the reset procedure.
*Follow the instructions on the scanner screen.

5. Manual adaptation reset (optional)

* If the scanner is not available, you can try to manually reset the automatic transmission adaptation as follows:
* Disconnect the battery for 15 minutes.
* Reconnect the battery.
* Start the engine and let it idle for 10 minutes.
* Shift the gear selector to different positions (P, R, N, D, 2, 1) and hold each position for a few seconds.
* Turn off the engine and start it again.

6. Completion

*After the reset process is completed, turn off the OBD2 scanner and collect the tools.
* Check the operation of the automatic transmission and make sure that it shifts smoothly and without jolts.

Note:

* Resetting the automatic transmission adaptation may lead to a temporary change in the behavior of the transmission. It is recommended to drive the car for about 100 km to give the automatic transmission the opportunity to re-adapt to your driving style.
* If automatic transmission problems persist after resetting, contact a qualified mechanic for diagnosis and repair.
