Automatic transmission solenoid valve repair

Required tools and materials:

* Wrench set
* Pliers
* Marker
* Alcohol or cleaner
* Transmission fluid
* New solenoid (if required)

Instructions:

1. Determining a faulty solenoid

* Use transmission trouble codes and symptoms to identify a possible bad solenoid.
*Refer to your repair manual for specific information on the location of the solenoids in your automatic transmission.

2. Removing the solenoid

* Loosen the bolts holding the solenoid.
*Carefully label the solenoid wires to make later installation easier.
* Remove the solenoid from the automatic transmission.

3. Disassembly and inspection

* Clean the solenoid of dirt and debris.
* Disassemble the solenoid following the manufacturer’s instructions.
* Inspect components for wear, damage, or blockage.

4. Cleaning and assembly

* Clean all solenoid components with alcohol or cleaner.
* Make sure that all openings and channels are not clogged.
* Reassemble the solenoid in reverse order of disassembly.
* Replace any damaged or worn components.

5. Installation

* Install the repaired solenoid on the automatic transmission.
* Connect the solenoid wires according to the markings.
* Secure the solenoid with bolts.

6. Checking and filling with transmission fluid

* Check the transmission fluid level and add it if necessary.
* Start the engine and let it idle.
* Shift the gear selector to all positions and check for leaks or unusual noise.

7. Resetting fault codes (if necessary)

*If DTCs were previously set, use an OBD2 scanner to clear them.
