Automatic transmission selector repair in Skoda Rapid
Materials:
* Hex key 5 mm
* Flat head screwdriver
Steps:
1. Disconnect the battery: Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to remove power from the vehicle.
2. Remove the shift knob: Press the button on the side of the shift knob and pull it up to remove.
3. Remove the protective cover: There is a plastic protective cover around the base of the automatic transmission selector. Unscrew the screws using a 5mm hex key and remove the cover.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector: Press the connector tab and disconnect it from the automatic transmission selector.
5. Unscrew the fastening bolts: Under the protective cover there are two bolts that secure the automatic transmission selector to the body. Unscrew them using a 5mm hex key.
6. Remove the automatic transmission selector: Gently pull the automatic transmission selector up and remove it from the body.
7. Disassemble the automatic transmission selector: There is a plastic cover on the back of the automatic transmission selector. Remove it using a flat head screwdriver. Inside there is a mechanism with springs and levers.
8. Check Parts: Inspect all parts for wear or damage. Replace faulty parts if necessary.
9. Assemble the automatic transmission selector: Assemble the automatic transmission selector in the reverse order. Make sure the springs and levers are installed correctly.
10. Install the automatic transmission selector: Insert the automatic transmission selector back into the body and tighten the mounting bolts.
11. Connect the electrical connector: Connect the electrical connector to the automatic transmission selector.
12. Install the guard: Install the plastic guard and tighten the screws.
13. Connect the battery: Connect the negative terminal of the battery to restore power.
