Adjusting the Mercedes-Benz automatic transmission cable

Tools:

* 13mm wrench
* 15 mm wrench
* 4 mm hexagon

Adjustment steps:

1. Place the car in neutral position

* Start the engine and place the gear shift lever in neutral.
* Turn off the engine.

2. Loosen the locknut

* Find the automatic transmission cable locknut. It is usually located near the transmission.
* Loosen the locknut using a 13mm wrench.

3. Loosening the clamp bolt

* Locate the clamping bolt on the automatic transmission cable. It is usually located next to the locknut.
* Loosen the clamp bolt using a 4mm hexagon.

4. Adjusting the cable length

* While holding the cable with one hand, rotate the plastic tip with the other hand.
* Rotate the tip clockwise to shorten the cable or counterclockwise to lengthen it.

5. Tightening the clamp bolt

*Tighten the clamp bolt with a 4mm hexagon.

6. Tightening the locknut

*Tighten the locknut with a 13mm wrench. Make sure it is tight.

7. Checking the adjustment

* Start the engine and check for smooth gear shifting.

Notes:

* When adjusting the cable, make sure it is not twisted or pinched.
*If shifting is still difficult after adjustment, more professional diagnostics may be required.
* Automatic transmission cable adjustment may vary depending on the model and year of manufacture of the vehicle.
