Adjusting the gear selector of the Mazda 6 automatic transmission

Required tools:

* Phillips screwdriver
* 12 mm wrench
* 4 mm hex key

Instructions:

1. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. This will cut off the power supply to the vehicle and prevent the gear selector from being accidentally engaged.

2. Remove the center console. To do this, unscrew the two screws under the armrest and the two screws under the front of the console. Carefully pull the console up and disconnect the electrical connector.

3. Loosen the gear selector mounting nuts. Use a 12mm wrench to loosen the two nuts located under the gear selector.

4. Adjust the position of the gear selector. Use a 4mm hex wrench to adjust the position of the gear selector up or down until it is properly aligned.

5. Tighten the gear selector mounting nuts. Tighten the nuts using a 12mm wrench.

6. Reinstall the center console. Align the center console with the installation location and secure it with screws. Connect the electrical connector.

7. Connect the negative terminal of the battery.

8. Check the operation of the gear selector. Start the car and check if the gears shift correctly. The selector should shift easily between all gears and the park position.

Adviсe:

* If the gear selector still does not shift correctly after adjustment, contact a qualified mechanic.
* Do not adjust the gear selector too much. This may cause damage to the gear shift mechanism.
* If you are not confident in your abilities, it is better to have a professional adjust the gear selector.
