Adjusting the Peugeot 206 automatic transmission selector

Required tools:

* 10 mm wrench
* Flat head screwdriver
* Marker

Adjustment procedure:

1. Place the vehicle on a level surface with the parking brake applied.
2. Disconnect the gear shift cable from the selector.
3. Take a flathead screwdriver and place it in the slot on the selector shaft.
4. Push the screwdriver to unlock the axle.
5. Move the selector in all positions to check its movement. If the movement is difficult or unclear, it is necessary to adjust it.
6. Find the marks on the selector shaft and on the bracket.
7. Align the marks using a screwdriver.
8. Make sure that the control lever is in the “Parking” position.
9. Tighten the bolt on the selector shaft with a 10 mm wrench.
10. Reinstall the gear shift cable and check the operation of the selector.
11. If the adjustment is made correctly, the selector should operate smoothly and clearly.

Note:

* Replacing the gear shift cable does not require adjusting the automatic transmission selector.
* If after adjustment the selector still does not work correctly, the automatic transmission itself may need to be replaced or repaired.
