Guidelines for replacing the transmission filter in Hyundai Tucson with automatic transmission

Automatic transmission type: A6MF1 / A6MF2

Replacement frequency:

* Every 60,000 km or 24 months (recommended)
* Every 90,000 km (maximum interval)

Required materials:

* Hyundai SP-IV transmission oil (8-9 liters)
* New transmission oil filter (original number: 46321-3C100)
* New pan gasket (original number: 21513-3C100)
* Tool set
* Funnel
* Sterile gloves

Tools:

* Wrench or ratchet
* Sockets or socket wrenches
* Torque wrench
* Flat head screwdriver
* Brush with metal bristles

Step by step instructions:

1. Preparation:

* Place the car on a flat surface.
* Open the hood and let the engine cool.
* Check the gearbox oil level (with a hot engine). The oil should be in the “hot” range. If the level is low, add oil before starting work.

2. Removing the transmission pan:

* Unscrew the transmission pan drain plug and drain the oil into a container with a capacity of at least 5 liters.
* Clean the drain plug and replace it with a new O-ring.
* Unscrew the transmission pan mounting bolts and carefully remove the pan.
* Remove the old gasket.

3. Filter change:

* Unscrew the oil filter mounting bolts.
* Remove the old filter.
* Clean the filter seat.
* Install the new filter and tighten the mounting bolts to the recommended tightening torque (10 Nm).

4. Pallet installation:

* Install a new gasket on the pan.
* Reinstall the pan and tighten the mounting bolts to the recommended tightening torque (10 Nm).

5. Filling with new oil:

* Fill with new SP-IV oil through the filler plug.
* Fill in approximately 4 liters of oil and check the level using the dipstick.
*Add oil to the required level.

6. Resetting the oil aging counter:

* Start the engine and let it idle for 10 minutes.
* Change gears several times.
* Turn off the engine.
* Connect a scan tool and reset the oil aging counter (this may not be necessary on some models).

7. Final inspection:

* Check the transmission pan and connections for leaks.
* Make sure the gearbox oil level is correct.
* Reinstall the drain plug and tighten it to the recommended torque (44 Nm).
* Close the hood.

Adviсe:

* To extend the service life of the gearbox, it is recommended to change the oil and filter more often than specified in the regulations.
* Use only oil recommended by the manufacturer.
* When changing the oil, do not forget to also replace the pan gasket.
* If possible, measure the volume of drained oil and add an equal volume of new oil.
*If the oil is dark in color or contains metal shavings, this may indicate a transmission problem and should be professionally diagnosed.
