Location of the automatic transmission oil level dipstick in Nissan Terrano

For vehicles with 4-speed automatic transmission (RE4F03A)

*The dipstick is located on the right side of the transmission, near the front of the engine.
*It has a yellow handle.

For vehicles with 5-speed automatic transmission (RE5R05A)

* The dipstick is located on the left side of the transmission, next to the oil pan.
*It has an orange handle.

Instructions for checking the oil level

1. Place the vehicle on a level surface and place the gear shift lever in the “P” position.
2. Turn on the engine and let it idle for a few minutes to warm up the oil.
3. Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes for the oil to drain back into the oil pan.
4. Remove the dipstick, wipe it with a clean cloth, and reinsert it.
5. Remove the dipstick again and check the oil level using the “HOT” and “COLD” marks on the dipstick:

*For vehicles with 4-speed automatic transmission: The oil level should be between the “HOT” and “COLD” marks.
*For vehicles with 5-speed automatic transmission: The oil level should be at the “COLD” mark.

6. If the oil level is too low, add the appropriate oil through the filler tube located on the top of the transmission.
7. Check the oil level again and, if necessary, add oil to the correct level.
