Location of the control hole in the Ford Kuga automatic transmission:
The automatic transmission inspection hole on the Ford Kuga is located on the underside of the transmission.
Required tools:
* 8 mm hex key
* Long funnel
* Ford transmission fluid (Mercon LV or Mercon ULV)
The procedure for checking the transmission fluid level:
1. Warm up the engine and transmission: Start the engine and let it idle for about 10-15 minutes to warm up the transmission.
2. Place the vehicle on a level surface: Place the vehicle on a level surface, preferably on a lift.
3. Locate the inspection hole: The inspection hole is located on the underside of the transmission, usually on the side of the oil pan. It is closed with an 8mm hex bolt.
4. Clean the area around the hole: Use a rag or brush to remove any dirt or debris from the area around the inspection hole.
5. Remove the bolt: Use an 8mm hex key to carefully remove the inspection hole bolt.
6. Check the fluid level: Transmission fluid should drain from the inspection hole when it is open. The level should be approximately level with the bottom edge of the hole.
7. Add fluid as needed: If the fluid level is low, use a long funnel to add Ford transmission fluid (Mercon LV or Mercon ULV). Add fluid a little at a time until it begins to flow out of the inspection hole.
8. Tighten the bolt: Once the fluid level reaches the desired level, screw the inspection hole bolt back in using an 8mm hex key. Tighten it to approximately 25 Nm.
9. Check for leaks: After tightening the bolt, turn on the engine and check for possible fluid leaks.
Adviсe:
*Check the transmission fluid level when the engine is cold, as it expands when heated.
* Do not overfill transmission fluid as this may cause problems with shifting.
* Check the transmission fluid level regularly, especially before long trips.
