Location and appearance:

The automatic transmission oil level plug is usually located on the left or right side of the transmission. It may be marked “ATF” (transmission fluid) or another indication, such as a gear symbol with a down arrow.

The plug can be made in the form of a bolt with a hex head or a square head for a wrench. It is usually small and screwed to the gearbox housing.

Function:

The automatic transmission oil level plug allows you to check and, if necessary, top up the oil level in the automatic transmission.

Cork usage:

To check the automatic transmission oil level, follow these steps:

1. Place the car on a level surface.
2. Start the engine and let it idle for a while (usually about 5 minutes).
3. Move the gear selector to Park or Neutral.
4. Find the automatic transmission oil level plug and wipe it with a clean cloth.
5. Unscrew the plug. If a small amount of oil leaks out, the oil level is normal. If oil does not flow out, the oil level is low and needs to be topped up.
6. To add oil, insert a special funnel for transmission fluid into the hole for the plug and fill the gearbox with the required amount of oil. Typically, the oil level is checked with the engine running (in Park or Neutral) and when the optimum temperature has been reached (some vehicles may require a special check procedure).
7. Reinstall the plug and tighten it.
