Automatic transmission firmware process for Kia Rio 4

Required tools and materials:

* Transmission firmware update (obtained from an authorized Kia dealer)
* OBD-II scanner with firmware upgrade capability
* Computer with internet connection

Step by step instructions:

1. Preparation:

* Connect the OBD-II scanner to the vehicle’s diagnostic connector.
* Install the scanner update software on your computer.
* Download transmission firmware update from Kia official website.

2. Connection to transmission control unit:

*Run the software to update the scanner.
* Select your car make and model (Kia Rio 4).
* Set the transmission control unit type (usually TCU).

3. Download update:

* Click the “Update Firmware” button in the scanner software.
* Select the firmware update file downloaded earlier.
* Click the “Download” button.
* The firmware will be downloaded to the scanner.

4. Installing the update on the car:

* Once the download is complete, put the vehicle into programming mode.
* Connect the scanner to the OBD-II connector and follow the instructions on the scanner screen.
* Installation of the update usually takes from 5 to 15 minutes.

5. Completion:

*After installing the update, disable the OBD-II scanner and exit programming mode.
* Start the engine and check if the gearbox is working properly.

*Before flashing the firmware, make sure the car battery is fully charged.
* Do not interrupt the firmware process.
